Dear Sir,
We have the people you mentioned in your letter buried here. In lot 105 section A is an old monument with these names on the front of it: Joseph H. Rogers, born March 8, 1819 – died November 14, 1893 and below his name is Martha C or G, wife, born Sept. 18, 1829 died Sept. 2, 1887, on the side of this monument there’s the name Frank G. Rogers, born Aug 1859 died Oct 15, 1894. Then in lot 241 section A, there is a monument with a Civil War soldier’s marker beside it, with the name Marcus Humphrey, died at Montrey, Tenn. (the atlas doesn’t list a Montrey, but it does list a Monterey, so maybe it was misspelled), died June 12, 1862, 24 yrs, 9 mo, 6 days. On the other side of the monument is the name Stanton Humphrey, died Oct 17, 1888, 79 yrs, 7 mo, 27 days. In our burial book Marcus Humphrey isn’t listed but Stanton Humphrey is and gives Eli Rogers as nearest relative. Also in lot 241 there is a Ruth Humphrey, died April 9, 1898, no age given, nearest relative Eli Rogers, relationship of deceased is mother-in-law. On the same lot we have a Mrs. Roxania Rogers and she’s listed as dying Sept 8 not Sept. 9, 1900 and nearest relative was Eli Rogers, relationship of deceased is mother. Also in this lot there is a N.L.B. Rogers or B.N.L. (its listed both ways), not Joseph N. L. Rogers, died December 22, 1893, says “very old” for age, with Eli Rogers listed as nearest relative. Also in this lot are two children buried, both with the name Eli Rogers. One died December 2, 1884, 6 days old and the other one died August 17, 1881, 7 months old. No nearest relative given for either one.
Hope this helps you,
Russell Dickinson
